I credit the statistics below for where this post is heading.
“Women lost 156,000 jobs [in December], while men gained 16,000 jobs,” –The Lily, Jan. 10, 2021
“One in four women is considering downshifting her career or quitting her job because of increased caregiving responsibilities,” –Melinda Gates, Fortune, Dec. 28, 2020
Or maybe the credit goes to the grief I’m working through from the death of my Mom in October who lived into her 90s with many dreams unrealized.
Whatever inspired me to do something extra to honor women during Women’s History Month, starting today, I’m grateful for it. Over the past weeks, I’ve phoned and exchanged emails with women entrepreneurs I’ve worked with.
Women speaking up for themselves and for those around them is the strongest force we have to change the world.Melinda Gates
I was curious how we’re doing in supporting each other. One question I asked was, “What woman has inspired you to be the real you?”
The conversations were surprising, funny and tearful at times. Together we realized it can be difficult to name women role models or mentors.
Nonetheless there are several empowering stories of women inspiring women and quotes I’m excited to share over the next few weeks.
Women’s History Month is March 1-31, 2021, commemorating women’s vital role in American history. International Women’s Day is March 8, 2021, focusing on gender equality/parity.
We are encouraged to do what we can to make a positive difference for women.
Speak up. Stick together. Stay tuned.
