Featuring Celeste Gill
HerNature asked Celeste, “What woman inspired you to be the real you?”
My grandmother Willie Mae Muckle did whatever she wanted to do.
She was an entrepreneur in the 1970s in Detroit, Michigan. She ran a candy store where I worked as a kid and a catering business for factory workers.
I live my life on my terms. If I feel like going into a business venture, that’s what I do.
Even though Willie Mae didn’t finish high school, she managed to teach a culinary class at the local community college.
The most important lesson I’m realizing is that I’m following Willie Mae’s footsteps in many ways.
I live my life on my terms. If I feel like going into a business venture, that’s what I do.
When it comes to being a woman, our only place should be is where we choose to be.
