Finding The Courage To Follow My Curiosity

Featuring Stacy Raine

HerNature asked Stacy, “What woman has inspired you to be the real you?”

Years ago I read Whitney Johnson’s book, Disrupt Yourself. It was a game changer.

I recognized myself in those pages—competent in my job but ready for something new that would take me a slightly different direction.

She encouraged me to jump into the unknown, sink into the process of learning and embrace being a novice before being “good.” I found the courage to ask for new challenges that led to creating two new audio series during my time at The Nature Conservancy.

I learned from Whitney about the courage to follow my curiosity, to focus not on fear but instead on “what might be lost by standing still.” Her words inspire my actions especially today as I build a business to help nonprofits discover the power of audio for connecting with supporters.

Whitney showed me the path ahead. Several women mentors at the Conservancy also showed me how to walk it by saying yes to my ideas and supporting me in bringing them to life. I honor those women this month as well.
